Stefan Dunauskas is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in Adult and Gerontologic care. He works with Dr. Jeremy Smith at Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in managing disorders of the spine within the office, operating room, and the hospital nursing units. He has been involved in direct patient-centered care for over twenty years. Initially obtaining an Associate Nursing Degree from Cabrillo College, he returned home to Southern California. While working in the field, he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.

He continued his desire for higher learning while earning a Master of Science Degree in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Certification from California State University Long Beach, then attending the RN First Assist certification program at University of California at Los Angeles. He is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses.

Stefan's passion is caring for those with spine disorders and injuries. Ironically, experiencing a back injury as a youth initially inspired his interest in medicine and healthcare. He practiced and taught massage therapy and alternative medicine after studying at Twin Lakes College in Santa Cruz, CA. Stefan also taught for the University of California at Santa Cruz, Holistic Health Program. Educating patients and families in understanding their conditions and plan of care is a cornerstone of his practice.
